Trailers for Next Movie - Vote by June 5

Here are the trailers for the movies to be voted on for the next showing. The poll closes at 11:00 PM June 5 so please vote by then. You can see the voting box to the right of these posts, below the welcome message.

The next showing will be Saturday June 6, around 9:15 - 9:30 PM or as soon as it gets dark enough to see.

Since it gets dark later, forcing us to start later, we'll have to limit the movies that we can show to those that last not much longer than 90 minutes, allowing us to finish no later than 11:00 PM. That's why Revenge of the Jedi isn't in the poll this week. We'll be able to put it in the poll later this summer when it begins getting dark earlier again.

The first movie in the poll this week is Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005). This movie runs for approximately 85 minutes and is rated G.

Wallace and his loyal dog, Gromit, set out to discover the mystery behind the garden sabotage that plagues their village and threatens the annual giant vegetable growing contest.

The second movie in the poll is Shrek (2001). This movie runs for 90 minutes and is rated PG for mild language and some crude humor.

An ogre, in order to regain his swamp, travels along with an annoying donkey in order to bring a princess to a scheming lord, wishing himself King.

The third movie in the poll is The Muppet Movie (1979). This movie runs for 95 minutes and is rated G.

Kermit and his new found friends trek across America to find success in Hollywood, but a frog-legs merchant is after Kermit.

The fourth and final movie in the poll is Tron (1982), a Disney movie starring Jeff Bridges. This movie runs for 96 minutes and is rated PG.

A hacker is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

Please remember to vote for the movie you'd like to see on the side of the house by June 5. We'll post the winning movie here the next day. And feel free to email me with recommendations for movies you'd like to see, as well!

Showtime will be Saturday June 6 at around 9:15 PM. Hope to see you there!

Next Showing Postponed Until Saturday May 23

Since the temperatures this Saturday (the 16th) will be below 60 for a high and in the 30's for a low, we'll wait another week and hope for warmer weather as befits the month of May. As of now, we'll show The Empire Strikes Back at around 9:00 PM on Saturday May 23.

Have a great weekend!

The Empire Was Rained Out

Well, we had everything set up and ready and then we had to take it down - as Snoop Dogg would say - for drizzle.

So... let's try again next Saturday night (the 16th) for The Empire Strikes Back, and we'll start around 9:00 PM when it's a little darker. Hope to see you there!

The Empire Strikes Back Tonight

It's a little cool, but we'll give it a shot. We can always decide to postpone a week if everyone thinks it's too chilly . You might want to wear a jacket and maybe bring a blanket.

Just bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, and whatever you want to snack on and drink, and join us in watching Star Wars - Episode V The Empire Stikes Back (the episode following the one we showed a couple weeks ago ). Showtime is around 8:45.

The Empire Strikes Back This Saturday May 9 (Weather Permitting)

The Empire Strikes Back received the most votes,
so it will be the movie shown on the side
of the house this Saturday. The forecast
calls for a high of only 56 tomorrow, so
you might want to bring a blanket.
In the event of inclement weather
or if it gets too cold, we'll
show the movie the following
Saturday. Check here this
Saturday prior to
the 8:45 showtime
to see whether
we need to
postpone
a week.

Once everyone arrives, if most think it's too cold we could also decide then to wait a week if you'd like.

Date: Saturday May 9
Time: 8:45 PM
Show: The Empire Strikes Back

Trailers for Next Movie - Vote by May 7

Here are the trailers for the movies to be voted on for the next showing. The poll closes at 10:00 PM May 7 so please vote by then. You can see the voting box to the right of these posts, below the welcome message.

The next showing will be Saturday May 9, unless enough people want to see the movie this Saturday, May 2. It will probably be pretty chilly that day, though, as the high is only supposed to reach 60.

The first movie in the poll is Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980). This movie runs for approximately 124 minutes and is rated PG for sci-fi violence.

The story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and the others didn't end with the destruction of the Death Star - it continues in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. Imperial forces have since driven the Rebels to hide on the ice world Hoth. But even on such an icy, backwater world, they cannot escape the wicked Darth Vader's eye for long, and he devastates the Rebel base in an assault with the horrible AT-AT walkers. Luke flees to Dagobah to begin Jedi Knight training with Yoda, while Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and C-3PO run the blockade of Imperial Star Destroyers in the Millenium Falcon. The Imperials pursue them across the galaxy and eventually catch up with them at Bespin. Now Darth Vader plans to use them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker to him, and turns Han Solo over to Boba Fett as a prize to be delivered to crime lord Jabba the Hutt. Luke learns a terrible family secret after losing a swordfight with Vader. Will he - and the others - escape the Empire's clutches?

The second movie in the poll is Shrek (2001). This movie runs for 90 minutes and is rated PG for mild language and some crude humor.

An ogre, in order to regain his swamp, travels along with an annoying donkey in order to bring a princess to a scheming lord, wishing himself King.

The third movie in the poll is the recent release Bedtime Stories (2008), starring Adam Sandler. This movie runs for 99 minutes and is rated PG for some mild rude humor and mild language.

A family comedy about a hotel handyman whose life changes when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to magically come true. What they dream up... he has to survive!

The fourth and final movie in the poll is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), a Walt Disney classic starring Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas, and Peter Lorre. This movie runs for 127 minutes and is rated G.

Walt Disney's fun, live-action adaptation of Jules Verne's classic science-fiction story features some of the best special effects produced in the 1950s. Captain Nemo, the commander of a futuristic submarine called the Nautilus, rescues the survivors of a shipwreck and takes them on an incredible journey far below the ocean's surface. They encounter numerous wonders of the sea, including an enormous squid which attacks the ship in the film's most unforgettable sequence.

Please remember to vote for the movie you'd like to see on the side of the house by May 7. We'll post the winning movie here the next day.

Showtime will be Saturday May 9 at 8:45 PM. It should be warmer by then! Hope to see you there!
