We had hoped to show Astro Boy, as chosen by voters in the poll, on the side of the house tonight.
Unfortuneatly, there's a great possibility that the lawn sprinklers will come on during the middle of the movie. This would not only drench you, the viewers, but also a bunch of electrical equipment as well.
Until we know for sure when the automatic sprinklers will kick on, and can get the schedule changed if it's during the showtimes, we'll have to postpone showing a movie.
We're sorry about the cancellation, and hope you understand. We'll post here as soon as we find out something about the sprinkler situation.
...or whatever road brings you to our house for a movie.
Hello to everyone! Looks like the weather is warm enough now, and the forecast looks great for this weekend, so it's time to kick off another summer of Movies on the Side of the House.
This is the remastered edition with 5.1 surround sound. Just bring a blanket or chair and whatever you want to munch on, and join us for this timeless classic! Everyone's welcome!
Date: Saturday May 22 Time: 8:45 PM (or as soon as it gets dark enough) Show: The Wizard of Oz Runs: 102 mins.
It's snowing as I type this, and the Holiday season will soon be here. In fact, the Holiday displays are already going up in Target. With the possible exception of Halloween and the Super Bowl, it will be too cold to show anything on the side of the house until next year.
Thanks to everyone who came out and watched some movies with us. I hope you had a good time. As always, feel free to email me with future movie ideas.
As I'm sure everybody's noticed, the weather this week has turned cold and wet, especially so today, so I'm afraid we're not going to be able to show the movie tonight.
Hopefully (if it doesn't turn too cold) we'll be able to show it in the near future. If so, we'll post something here.
Great turnout last night for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa! Perfect weather, too!
We've had a special request from another one of our younger viewers for Monsters vs Aliens. Turns out it'll be released on DVD on September 29, which is just in time for us to show it on the side of the house on Saturday October 3.
NOTE: While the movie was shown in theaters in 3D, the DVD is being released in 2D only.
When a radioactive meteor hurtles into Susan Murphy (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) on her wedding day, she is transformed into a towering, platinum-haired giant. Taken away by the government and dubbed "Ginormica," Susan is introduced to other scientific oddities, including the amphibious Missing Link (Will Arnett), the dim blob B.O.B. (Seth Rogen), and the brilliant, bug-headed Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie). These "monsters" are released from captivity when a massive alien robot sent by the scheming Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) appears in San Francisco and clearly does not come in peace. With little time to adjust to her new stature, Susan must learn to work with her strange allies to avoid an all-out extraterrestrial invasion.
Here's a couple of trailers:
Here's a clip:
This time we'll start the show a bit earlier, at 7:30.
Date: Saturday October 3 Time: 7:30 PM Show: Monsters vs Aliens Runs: 94 mins.
This film is rated PG for sci-fi action, some crude humor and mild language.
This summer, on selected Saturday nights (weather permitting), we'll show a movie on the side of the house. Friends and neighbors, you are all invited! Just bring a lawn chair or blanket and whatever you want to munch on and drink. We'll begin the show around dusk, but you can check here to find exact dates and times, and also to vote on the next feature. Hope to see you there!
